Presentation by MSAPC and Mass. Department of Public Health, At Fuller Village
Alcohol and Drug misuse and addictions are becoming recognized as a growing public health problem. New and different types of drugs are becoming widely used and dangerous. Marijuana is much more potent than in years past. Prescription drug abuse is very common and opioid (pain reliever) addictions have become an epidemic across Massachusetts, fueling a heroin crisis.
Carol Girard, from the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will be speaking at Fuller Village on March 4th at 2pm about Substance Abuse and its impact on communities and families. She will focus her remarks on the impacts on older populations.
Ms. Girard will be joined by Laurie Stillman, a Milton resident and public health professional representing the Milton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition. She will speak about the prevalence of substance abuse problems in our Town of Milton, and what the coalition is doing to help raise awareness and stem the problem.
All are welcomed to join us. There will be time for questions and discussion.
